Carpal tunnel syndrome is defined as pressure on the median nerve at the point where it goes through the carpal tunnel of the wrist. It is characterized by soreness, tenderness, and weakness of the muscles of the thumb, as well as numbness, tingling, and burning in the first three fingers of the hand. These symptoms are experience most often at night. This condition is usually found in people who perform repetitive movements with their hands, such as office workers or carpenters.
